Mulch questions
How deep should mulch be?
2–3 inches is right for most beds. Use 2 inches to top up existing mulch and 3 inches for new or bare beds. Never pile mulch against tree trunks or plant stems.
How many bags of mulch are in a cubic yard?
About 13.5 bags of the standard 2 cubic foot size. Bulk mulch is usually cheaper and easier for anything over 2–3 cubic yards.
How do I measure a curved or irregular bed?
Break it into rough rectangles and add them up, or measure the longest length and the average width. For round beds around trees, choose the circle shape and enter the diameter.
Do you install the mulch too?
Yes. Our mulch service includes bed cleanout, a fresh spade edge, pre-emergent weed barrier, and premium mulch installed at the right depth. Text John your calculator results for a quote.
