Timing Matters

Different plants want pruning at different times. We prune spring-blooming shrubs right after they flower and do structural pruning on most trees during dormancy, so you never lose a season of blooms.

Pruning around Toledo’s mature landscapes

A lot of homes in Toledo, Ottawa Hills, Sylvania, and Maumee have foundation plantings that were put in decades ago. Yews, boxwoods, and burning bushes that started small are now swallowing windows and walkways. We reclaim them gradually so they stay healthy and green rather than cutting them back to bare sticks.

The area also lost most of its ash trees to the emerald ash borer, and many yards replaced them with younger ornamental trees. Those young trees need structural pruning early so they grow into strong, well-shaped canopies — something we handle on trees up to about 15 feet.
